Felix didn’t, until the youngsters started doing it. Now he’s the worst offender.

it’s not that tall, and even if it was, that would be an entertaining place to sit after a few drinks. it’s bouncy and also spins. haha

20220227_212546 sheba at vet

I lost my baby today.

Sheba had been doing a little poorly for a few says, slow-moving/klutzy and low appetite, but I’d hoped it was another arthritis flare. Sunday I got scared enough to take her to the emergency vet. She had multiple issues: dehydration, kidneys not working right, liver levels off, pancreatitis, arthritis flare, and possible neurological issues. It was decided they’d keep her overnight with IVs and treatments to see if she’d pull through.

This morning I got the call: she was rapidly getting worse. I went in, and we sent her on her way. She’s at peace, but I’m devastated.

Sheba had been a family pet for, as far as I can tell, 16 years or so. She was mainly Mom’s dog first (though she loved us all.) After Mom passed, she tended to hang out with Dad. After he passed, she was my sweet baby.

I knew this was coming-- she was very old and it was pretty obvious she was nearing her end-- but still, it hurts. The house feels so empty without her here.

I feel your pain. All the cats we’ve ever had are still in my subconscious, though, as she will be in yours. <3 <3 <3

So devastating and I’m really sorry about Sheba going. It’s not any consolation but know you gave her the best possible life.

I’m sorry for your loss.
Although other pets may take the place of a beloved pet in the home, each furry child gets a unique place in our heart and can never be replaced there.
Condolences.

Ladies and gentlemen, Miss Betty White:

Pending full approval of the locals, it looks like she lives here now. She’s in quarantine, which was gonna be until we could introduce slowly but now it’s until she’s not in heat anymore. :flushed: that was a surprise but it’s better than being pregnant.

They know she’s here but are not freaking out, so far so good.

What a cutie! She looks a lot like our Ally did – lots of white with blotches of color, and a white face and forehead, bounded by two darker areas around the ears.

At first I thought you meant the local humane society people.

It’s mostly George and Sylvia I worry about, the seniors are set in their ways and I want them to feel secure at home.

We tried this a few weeks ago, but the introduction was too abrupt and it caused a kerfuffle and hurt feelings for a few days. But Betty is really not suited to life as a semi-feral mechanic shop cat and has already had to be rescued from an oil incident which required a dawn bath. I wanted to rescue her before the cycle of kittens that is otherwise inevitable. She should be a pampered eunuch earning her keep through sheer adorability alone.

Years ago, we had Dyson and Glori, and decided to adopt littermates Sona and Ally. The latter were only 10 weeks old, I think, and though they both tested negative for FIV, our vet suggested we keep S&A apart from D&G for two months, in case their tests were false negative. (I’m not sure exactly why this would be – still kittens?) They were quarantined in a guest room and we visited them frequently. Even Dyson played with them, trying to bat them under the door. He welcomed them, though I think both of them thought “You brought us home to this?” But everyone got along well enough.

The repeat tests were negative thank goodness. That was just 19 years ago, and we still have Sona. She still likes to be cradled upside down, just as my wife did when we first met the two.

Welp, my SO is no longer to be trusted in matters of differentiating kitty genitals. It’s disappointing, because I did want another girl, but moreso because I love the name Betty White for a cat. I was shot down on keeping the name.

During some fun playtime I felt something and moved the hair to look closer. Yep, very small kitty dick-n-balls. Le sigh.

Why this lil dude was acting like a girlie in heat, I have no idea. He even did the yowling & trills, the butt-in-the-air, and aggressive demands for cuddles and loves.

So, I guess I have to revamp the announcement, Ladies and Gentlemen, Carmello:

He’ll be seeing the vet this week, for shots and arranging the neuter.

I swear he looks like a calico, which are usually female unless there has been some genetic mix-up of some sort.

Perhaps a trans cat? A possibility.

Intersex, perhaps?

I feel like this is a possibility, and I will ask the vet. Intersex or perhaps trans, as @RAvery mentioned.

@kxkvi I’ll have to get more photos, but there are white areas, and tabby areas. I don’t know if the tabby part is considered one color or more than one.

I could see some type of person having a problem with any of this, but fuzzy is fuzzy in our house (like people are people). As long as the other cats are cool, everything is good, and I will keep the name Betty White in reserve for the future. Knowing me, other cats will show up in time.
