The Greater Israel plan proceeds apaceā¦
I guess theyāve decided that the ouster of Assad meant that they treaty was no longer valid and they can do what they wantā¦
That was despite Syriaās new transitional President Ahmed al-Sharaa making clear that his new administration would recognise the 1974 agreement with Israel.
Israelās Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu said the 1974 agreement was struck with a deposed regime and is therefore invalid.
The fascists have decided they can do what they want because nobody is stopping them. If not this specious excuse they would make up a different one, but we all know the real reason is that the strong do what they will and the weak suffer what they must. God, I hate these people.

Itās time for other countries to stop talking about retaliatory tarriffs, and start planning sanctions.
As bad as that headline is, the reality of what he said is a million times worse.
He said the US would take over long term āownershipā of Gaza. That it would become the āRiviera of the Middle Eastā. That āthe worldās people will live thereā, including, he supposes, Palestinians. As far as what should become of the people who live there, well, heāll make sure the King and General āopen their heartsā and take in those displaced.
And just because he isnāt already evil enough, he also hinted that heād soon recognize Israelās sovereignty over the West Bank.
He just announced that they are going to ETHNICALLY CLEANSE Gazaā¦ the US is going to be participating in yet another fucking genocideā¦ because this is the worst of ALL possible time lines.
Whatās really chapping my hide in this moment is that no one in the US can claim ignorance of what their government was doing when the final stages of this genocide were being carried out. We had opportunity to vote against it, and irony being dead, people with family roots in the middle east voted.for.this.
History will be merciless, rightly, against Israel for eventually becoming that which the nation was created to be the opposite of and against the US for enabling and full complicity. There was nothing short of assassination campaigns any of us ordinary voters couldāve done to change course in the US. The duopoly was fully aligned, in favor of genocide of the Palestinian people.
All true. All enraging.
I agree that anyone who voted for Trump was actively supporting a guy who loudly and repeatedly promised to do exactly this sort of thing, but itās also a huge stain on Bidenās otherwise mostly good legacy that he gave his unconditional support to Netanyahu throughout this whole thing, arming him with a shitload of 2000 lb bombs and refusing to apply any of Americaās substantial leverage to end the slaughter. Trump is obviously worse but people with family roots in the region didnāt turn away from the Democratic party out of the blue. Some of them (quite wrongly) figured that the status quo was so bad that it was worth the risk of throwing their support to the other guy.

Sitting in the epicenter in Michigan, to the tune if 100k+ possible votes, thereās no way anyone in the diaspora community had any illusions of what their votes or sitting home would mean. Just like the MAGA dipshits, they knew what they were doing. Like all the others, they assumed the leopards couldnāt possibly come for their faces, too.
Iām most concerned about how this affects the hostage trade right now.
It shows to me how all these billionaires are getting to Trump. He really is so stupid and thinks everything is a real estate deal. They promise him land and he is their lapdog.
Netanyahu never gave a shit - because if he did, he would have made a deal at the start to get them all out and started working on a viable peace plan that created a state for the Palestinians. He could have completed the work that Rabin started all those years ago, but he has no interest in peace. What matters to him is delivering Greater Israel to his right wing supporters and keeping his criminal ass out of jailā¦ Heās decided to swap their lives to ensure his political survival, not to mention the life of every single palestinian in Gaza, part of Hamas or not.
Iām sure he believes heās manipulated Trump into doing what he wanted, and Iām not sure heās wrong on that part.
