Stingrays feel like wet velvet

There was an aquarium in Rimini with small stingrays in a shallow tank so they could be touched, such a lovely smoothness, not surprised that shagreen exists after touching them and sharks.

(Actually Huffy’s imitation of Schwinn’s Stingray, I think. I remember Huffy as the cheaper, shitty bike brand.)

Jyoti’s ongoing adventures in pet-sitting

Ok, she’s a ball of muscle but Marley the staffy is so sweet

Marley lives with Nugget the seldom-seen cat. Today they just casually sunbathed together

Tonight, things got a little tense (Marley LOVES Nugget, wants to be very up close and personal whenever he’s nearby. Apparently thinks Nugg’s some kind of strange dog. Nugget is very patient but has clear boundaries and limits )

gray and rainy day on the island. was startled by a knock at the back door. little iggy appers to want to come inside:

this one is tiny, must be new. this could be the bandit eating my pepper seedlings right off at the dirt!

The Kestrel is back

Photographing the birds perched on the jungle of antennas on the building next door is a difficult task. I don’t want the neighbors to think I’m spying on their lives.

I’m not one to harass wild animals, as a rule,* but I made sure that this pair knew they were being stalked by a car and yelled at them to push off. They got the message, but will be back no doubt.
* Yeah, OK, I’ve been known to chase raccoons off my roof, cursing and growling, with a broom in the middle of the night.

I’m guessing the squirrel harvesting is easier in daylight.

What is this handsome bird? A grossbeak of some kind?

A bird not related to real cardinals.

I went to the beach to see followers of Afro-Brazilian religions deliver their offerings to the orixá of the sea and I was surprised to see this beautiful little bird in the Garota de Ipanema park…
