This could mean nothing. My god brother was registered as a Republican here in Texas because he chose to vote in the Republican primary last year. He’s pretty progressive but where he lives, the Republican primary is functionally the election. So he votes in the primary for the least evil and harmful GOP and then votes for the Democrat in the full election.
In Texas, you are auto-registered for the year with the party whose primary you voted in. You can’t vote in any run-off primaries for any other party.
I believe Florida doesn’t have open primaries at all. You have to be registered with that party to vote in that primary. I don’t know if where Sweeney lives is one of the places where the GOP primary is effectively the election. But if it is, that could explain it.
Then again, I know almost nothing about her except that she’s an actor and has been attacked relentlessly by the manosphere.
