Thread of assholes

I think someone did, but I can’t remember which thread… it’s super-fucked up. And yeah, if we don’t turn the tied, things are going to get dark. :sob:

Kudos to the police chief up there, though, who said this:

“I don’t care what your message is, especially in an open town hall like this,” White said. “We have to respect everybody’s First Amendment rights, regardless of what side of the aisle you happen to sit on. I know there’s some people up here who probably disagree with me and would like us to take action and maybe try to silence a voice that’s in opposition to theirs at a town hall, but there’s very little we can do with regard to First Amendment protections. We have to make sure people have the protections afforded them under the Constitution.”

Cour d’Alene has a bit of a… reputation. Police officers who move to that area have a certain shared outlook.

I could easily see him meaning, though, that the woman “had” to be dragged out because her yelling was interrupting the precious free speech rights of the speakers on stage.

I posted the YouTube video here:

To be clear, that is not what he meant. I didn’t include the rest of the police chief’s comments, but he specifically said that she should not have been dragged out, that interrupting speakers on stage was clearly not disruptive enough to warrant being removed from the building.

White said it’s not appropriate for law enforcement to forcefully remove a person from a town hall for speaking out of turn or shouting.

And later in the article:

White confirmed that Borrenpohl [the woman who got dragged out] was cited and released for misdemeanor battery because of the bite, though he noted that the officers who responded to CHS didn’t have access to the numerous video recordings that showed what happened before they arrived.

“Now that we are in receipt of several videos that show the majority of the event that we didn’t have at the time, (the battery citation) will be under review by our prosecutor’s office,” he said.

White said his officers declined the sheriff’s request that Borrenpohl be arrested for trespassing.

“We respectfully informed the sheriff that, since this was an open to the public event, we are not going to arrest anyone for trespassing,” White said. “That would be inappropriate.”

The police chief sounds decent. For a cop. The sheriff is clearly a fascist.

Notice how those street signs are in two languages. One is in a Finno-Ugric language and the other is in a Indo-European language.

That one is in two Finno-Ugric languages.

In Canada, we have many celebrations of different ethnic groups; street festivals recognising Greek heritage and food, Chinese New Year, etc. Canada likes to think of itself as a cultural mosaic, rather than a melting pot, and yet, I can’t think of any festivals or celebrations of Romani culture.

I see a spiral here; the Romani have always been vilified and villainised, so they may be secretive (the article states that the estimates of the Romani-Canadian population may be wildly out of whack), so that the rest of the population still views them as only stereotypes, which makes Romani-Canadians reluctant to talk about their backgrounds, which leads to more stereotyping, and so on.

Ugh, I can’t be bothered to care what a couple of mid-tier or lower macho scumbags think of each other.

Butthole lazers – you know, light amplified by ztimulated emission of radiation – as opposed to testicle tanners, which are awesome for some reason. The gender binary gets a little more confusing every day.

My favorite part of the article:

Scott Adams, the controversial “Dilbert” creator whose cartoons were canned by newspapers, including the Los Angeles Times, after he made a series of racist remarks, took to X to vouch for Crenshaw. Adams argued that people routinely say outrageous things privately and should know not to take such statements seriously. “As to what Crenshaw said, give it the “Really?” test,” Adams wrote. “Do you REALLY think he would slay Tucker, or do you think he just doesn’t want to be in the same room with him?”

Adams seems like the kind of person who casually uses the term “slay.”

Crenshaw is a retired Navy Seal who lost an eye to an IED in Iraq. He has 2 bronze stars and a purple heart, and I wouldn’t be surprised if he has PTSD. If he says he’s going to kill someone, I think I might not want to just assume he’s kidding.
