Brittany Simon used my question on her recent BDSM/polyamory/etc talk. It was a shorter talk and didnāt get as deep as some of them do, but it was still cool. I missed most of it because I was doing kiddos laundry.
Hereās my mail:
Hi Brittany!
I discovered your YouTube channel about a few weeks ago, and have been enjoying and finding interest in your videos there. Thank you for doing what you do! I think itās a social service and the makings of a vital community.
So, hereās a question:
What do you think of navigating kink communities as a non-BDSM person? In my time looking for and going to events in my region, and being on Fet, I feel like to so many people kink means mainly activity in the BDSM/power-exchange sphere foremost. As an already fringe queer/autistic/communist person, it can feel a bit alienating, and I struggle a bit with deciding how to adapt to this.
I am not opposed to BDSM, I find it interesting in the abstract, and I encourage others to live it as they see fit. My scene is more medical play, sounding, electro, insertions, etc in various queer, geeky, swinging, and poly combinations. The straight world makes plain that my proclivities are kinky, yet I often donāt feel that they have much place in the real-world kink communities I have encountered, either.
I used to teach prenatal yoga and met a few women who stayed vigorous throughout their whole pregnancies, but I know I really slowed down toward the end.
I gave a webinar!!! All the tech was messing up but I was prepared and able to speak anyhow, slides be damned. So proud of all I put together for it. Iām going run it again Sunday.
I scored my fastest average monthly pace since I restarted running after my last pregnancy! I didnāt think I much cared about pace metrics, but it actually felt really good to see.
You just helped me remember - I had a dream last night/this morning that someone told me I should buy some new jeans. I remember asking why, but all they did was look at my low-rise skinny jeans - which I admit, I donāt like.
Thank you. Itās a really challenging diet because no grains, no sugar/honey/sweetener/maple syrup, low meat - including fish and eggs, no dairy, low fat (of both good and bad sorts). The good news is unlimited fruit, which is a life saver, and then you really gotta love the beans and the greens. Bean pasta is a life saver. Itās not like I donāt occasionally indulge in stuff, but itās still a restrictive diet and hard to do when eating out. I find it easier in the summer when there are a lot of good fresh veggies. But I am finally at the point which he told me Iād get to where Iām just not as hungry.
I am supervised by a doctor. Itās a fascinating approach. he orders about 10 vials of blood for lab work and then everything is adjusted from those readings. One reason I donāt eat grains is because i get inflammation when I eat them; heās told me not everyone has this issue. He trained with Dr Fuhrman who wrote Eat for Life. His approach is similar except very moderate in the seeds and nuts.
For the first time at my current job I feel at ease and at peace. Itās been almost a year. Itās been a long week, I did my part, and feel progress.
Belatedā¦ after escaping/quitting/you canāt quit youāre fired from the gig in Iowa ā¦ I had my 4th interview with a staffing place that does vendor work for Microsoft and that time it went well.
I am now learning by doing the support of Azure. I am both excited and scared to death as the eventual position once the trial by fire is done and we are on our own we will be supporting the top 100 customers only. EEK! The only thing that keeps me and the others on the team at ease is we all knew pretty much diddly about what we are going to be doing.
Got to see the Aquabats last night - first time in 5 years since theyāve been over here and 9 since they last played Manchester. They were supporting Bowling for Soup but still managed to pack almost an entire show into their 30 minute slot.
As a bonus, we met MC Bat Commander after the show and had hugs and chatted for about 10 minutes with him. He was super-nice and it really made our day!
I got my state tax refund! Iāve been doing mine and my sonās taxes for the pastā¦umā¦well sheezus pleezus, I donāt remember, as we were dependents when Mom was alive, so didnāt have to file from 2009 to 2016, and we both worked in 2016 and 2017. So I did 'em last year, too. But I did them when I was working before.
Iām running DNA sequences via a handheld sequencer attached to my laptop (The Minion). Also this means my replies to questions about this will be slow, since Iāll be leaving my laptop in office overnight.
