Well this is interesting

Two interesting things I’ve read about Mendel:

Apparently Mendel’s results have been statistically analyzed and were just a little too good. He must have tweaked the data just a bit.

He published in an obscure journal so his results were not noticed for years. Finally, around the same time, three separate scientists published similar results, all three found Mendel’s paper, and all three referenced it. An amazing instance of scientific integrity that rendered all three into obscurity.

Indeed. Even those wrappings of rocks etc. by Christo were done previously on a much smaller scale by Meret Oppenheim in 1936:
