GAGA walked several Manhattan city blocks in THOSE SHOES??? She’s beyond a superhuman.
Traveler is my brother. We live 10,000 km apart. Ratsnet is our family’s private VPN/NAS/fileshare.
Yeah, that probably should have been a PM.
I will NOT be watching this, but figured I’d share the horror…
It’s kind of like that 80s movie with C. Thomas Howell in blackface, but even worse somehow.
WTF? is right. So we’re back in 1930?
Don’t you mean the 1980s?
So that’s what happened to C. Thomas Howell’s career.
To be fair, he does some good character actor work on some of the better tv shows. But yeah, that put a rather dark cloud over his career early on.
i want those shoes. <3
For some reason I always thought it was Michael J. Fox in that film, but I only ever saw the previews.
And I would have agreed with you. In fact without embiggening the movie poster, I’d still assume this.
I remember the movie as very sweet and despite the premise being icky, well done. It was very of it’s time. I’m sure I’m light of all the wokeness it didn’t age well, but as a light 80s comedic movie during the Reagan era, I thought it was a cute flick. I don’t think it’s really meant to be a deep dive on race but more a fresh twist on the old boy meets girl-boy loses girl-boy gets girl back formula with racial tensions as the conflict driver.
I think the filmmakers meant well and intended it as a (mildly) anti-racist statement. And for the time it probably was.
ETA: Well, the statement probably wasn’t the main impetus behind the film, but I do think they genuinely meant it (in a not terribly thoughtful way granted.)
And the thing is, that’s what makes this Loqueesha move all the more perplexing… I mean, did they not realize that it’s still a form of blackface? Apparently not.
I think they vaguely do, but are trying to rationalize it. i.e. “But it’s comedy!”
They are racist idiots then… Jokes are never an excuse to hurt others. that’s just bullying.
You are right, the 3rd one was a turkey. I liked the 2nd one better than the 1st though.
Fan folklore suggests Vin Diesel and Judi Dench were playing Dungeons and Dragons with each other on the set of Chronicles of Riddick in between takes, but that might not be exactly true.
Just wrapped up the 3rd season of Ash V. Evil Dead… Bruce Campbell is a wonder and a delight!
I know he said no more Ash after the 3rd season, but I really hope that’s not the case. In our trying times, we need more Bruce Campbell, not less.
Have you tried stan vs evil. It’s basically dr cox fights monsters.
He’s in, like, over a hundred episodes of Burn Notice waiting for us to get that bored
