i actually forgot, to be honest – my internet brain can be quite sieve-like. but since you mentioned wanting to tune in somehow, and i had just seen that article over at Lifehacker, it seemed like a perfect opportunity to spread the word. i’m listening/watching right now on PBS’s youtube channel.
Me too!
And I wasn’t sure if you knew/remembered or not, but wanted to extend maximum courtesy and gratitude.

Maria Yovanovitch testifying. And it’s triggering what I felt when I got fired from HOUR Media for being a whistleblower.
I just KNOW the publisher at HM, John Balardo, voted for the current POTUS.
Netflix has a silly post apocalypse show called Daybreak. Plenty of lampshade hanging, fourth wall breaking, narration shifts and flashbacks.
It has some glimmers of promise, but never seems to fully deliver. I put it on for background noise, but ended up watching the whole thing. And as I mull it over it keeps coming up lacking. Cannot recommend.
Edit - Good soundtrack though. I’ll give it that.
Watching episodes from the first season of MacGyver.
Still very fun to watch the mostly-plausible contraptions to get out of situations, but I think the show’s aged worse than Airwolf.
I’d entirely forgotten about the episode where he fights a landscape-destroying swarm of soldier ants that sound like an entire convention of clowns making balloon animals and instantly kill anyone who so much as stumbles in their midst.
Or the one where they lift almost half the footage of the episode directly from the original version of “The Italian Job”…
They need one of these.
I fast-forwarded through one episode
I am not the target market, and am in no way qualified to say whether it’s “good” or not
Diehard Ferris Bueller fans might be amused for five minutes
Viewers who like the premise that all the old people are gone might also like
which was pretty good, actually
EXCEPT for the jarring problem that the show was about how everybody was under 25 but all the actors were in their thirties
At this very moment, I am watching the episode of Murder She Wrote about an Algonquin who claims all of Jessica Fletcher’s home town is on Native American land…
Except:
- The Algonquins aren’t and weren’t in Maine
- The one time the Native American character appears in traditional dress, he’s wearing a Plains headdress and riding a horse
- The actor playing the Native American is from Sri Lanka (Bernard White)
Yikes.
Might all be an elaborate prank from Robert Benchley.
I wouldn’t put it past him.
MacGyver episode I’m currently watching used “a plant from the urtica family” to fashion blowgun darts to knock out two(!) henchmen in seconds.
That’s right, a tiny bit of fluid from the common stinging nettle is an almost instant knock-out drug.
The show tries so hard to be so plausible (in spite of the plot), and it ends up making the small betrayals so much sharper…
And then there’s the issue of a fearsome assassin who seriously goes by the name “Axminster”…
Law & Order jumped the shark so many times in its long series run, but I still loved it. It was super formulaic but it was basically “comfort TV” - you knew exactly what you were going to get and it delivered fairly consistently. It’s was also fun to play “see the bit player that became a big star”.
Some of the spin-offs though… eesh. I enjoyed SVU for a while until it basically became a parody of itself. I had a hard time staying with Criminal Intent, and Trial by Jury had some promise but was ultimately unnecessary.
They changed. The Han Solo/Greedo cantina scene. AGAIN.
And, wow, I didn’t think they could make Solo’s artificial jerk to the side to “dodge” look any more obvious and horrible, but they managed it.
BUT JEFF GOLDBLUM
This is my favorite Law & Order pastime. If it were a drinking game, I’d be dead.
I just watched a video on this last night… apparently, it was Lucas who changed it prior to the sale in 2012. He was assuming that there would be a 3-D re-release that never happened.
Sister Michael is amazing… The ending of season 2 seemed pretty great, with Clinton coming to town and James nearly leaving. My favorite episode might be the one with the hash scones at the funeral.
I can’t wait for season 3! And this alignment chart is entirely accurate!
Of course the wee lesbian is lawful good!
I guess Lucas was already re-editing Star Wars as soon as it came out, but he was subtle about it at first and nobody noticed, or foresaw what a serious behavior problem it would become
You’d think Disney would understand that whichever versions most people saw in 1977 are the historically significant ones, and standardize on one of those
At least the guns haven’t been changed to walkie-talkies, I suppose.
…yet
yes, I know that in theory the changes should stop now that Lucas doesn’t have control any more, but you never know…
