We are sort of bingeing on Season 4, over several nights. I swear it’s one of the best sf shows to come along. It just seems so real, despite everything (including the CGI which must have required an army of talented graphics people). Somehow even Bab 5 didn’t seem this real.
And having read the novels as they come out, it’s so neat to anticipate key plot points!
It’s Mike Leigh, so don’t expect subtlety, fast-paced action or happy endings. And it’s all done in the accents and vocabulary appropriate for the time and place, so some folks might want to put the subtitles on.
OTOH, if you want to get yourself worked up into a lather of righteous class-war rage, it’s quite effective.
We watched The Intern last night. It was a fun movie. Anne Hathaway plays the head of a fashion startup, and Robert DeNiro plays her senior-citizen intern. I was prepared not to like it, but it was quite fun. Also has Renee Russo, who steals scenes as the office masseuse/love interest.
Complicated plot about gang rivalry and divided loyalties. I’ve watched the first three episodes and so far it’s really well done. There’s violence, with potential for a lot more, especially after the cliffhanger ending of Episode 3.
Okay… on season 9 of the Walking Dead episode 5, did they really just “kill” off Rick, but did not kill him off? It seems like they jump ahead without Rick so maybe that’s what the movie is going to be about…
