You’ll like it. There’s a lot to say about the movie, i’ve been thinking about it on and off since i saw it a week ago and i’ve read some interviews and articles about the movie as well. I don’t want to overhype it, the movie has its flaws but there’s plenty of meat there that’s worthwhile.
Yeah, so far, I’ve heard good things about it. I’m looking forward to the thoughtful videos by FD Signifier, Lil Bill, and Jawn Lewis!
I’ve been thinking about why I ended up so glad that I watched it not knowing anything about it, and I think part of that is that, unlike a lot of modern movies, especially in that genre, the film doesn’t spend the first 10-15 minutes on a bunch of exposition to explain to you all the background to clue you in on what the movie is about. It’s kind of old school in that way. The film shows you, rather than telling you, what’s going on.
Oh, that sounds cool! Looking forward to checking this out!
But if one watches the film, they may be influenced by the work and make a biased choice!
I’ll be interested to see this…
Looks like a useful counter to this, the only previous documentary about her, I think, to get much attention in the US:

THE WONDERFUL HORRIBLE LIFE OF LENI RIEFENSTAHL
(Worth seeing)
Directed and written by Ray Muller
ETA: Yeah, this must be the 1993 doc that the article mentions.
Yes I’ve seen this, thought it was fascinating. The fetishizing, exotifting work she did later in Africa also struck me as horrific.
Ricardo Darin is the protagonist of this apocalyptic sci fi adventure. He is one of the finest actors from Argentina. This show in based on an Argentine comic book from the 1950s by Héctor Germán Oesterheld, a prolific left wing leaned comic book writer and had the pencil by Francisco Solano López.
Did anyone else just find out that the new season of Doctor Who started like two weeks ago?
Yeah, I think io9 has been covering episodes… I don’t have Disney+, so will have to wait for dvds… still waiting for the first season of Ncuti Gatwa to come out…
So far, I liked his first season better, but it’s still early.
On another note, there was a scene in the recent episode of Andor that has Mon Mothma dancing to some kind of Star Wars version of techno or something. Anyway, it was actually a really cool scene, but now the official Star Wars channel has cut together a one hour video of Mon Mothma dancing, and I don’t hate it.
This is another show I’d like to see at some point…
Yeah, I hope you can. In my opinion, Andor is the best Star Wars content ever produced. It’s just light years (parsecs?) better, more mature, more sophisticated story telling, than anything else in that universe made so far. It’s complex, it’s compelling, and it’s timely. It makes it abundantly clear that the Empire is fascist, and these people are fighting fascism. I think leaving the Jedi and the Sith and the Force out of the story has really helped humanize the story.
That sounds very interesting! It’s also the sort of story telling we need right now.
This isn’t spoiler stuff, so I won’t hide it, but the recent episode had illegal immigrants and surprise raids by soldiers demanding to see visas…it’s crazy that this wasn’t just written within the last few weeks, but it shows that what’s going on in our world right now is fascism.
Yeah, we definitely need more of this… but I don’t know if it’ll get through to some people.
It’s always a surprise. The schedule seems so random to me. I just check the wikipedia page of episodes every 8 months or so. Though I still haven’t gotten caught up yet… the title “Space Babies” is apparently very intimidating to my brain and keeps it from making the leap into that season every time I consider if tonight might be the night.
Oh that’s a fun episode, actually.
